Idols Michael Jackson Tribute

Don't you get nervous when you hear someone is doing a Michael Jackson song?

And doing is the right word, because nobody just sings Michael Jackson songs. The greatest musical icon of our age (and a completely bizarre, creepy weird guy) is a difficult person to cover.

I suppose I was relieved that Adeline wasn't horrible, but she wasn't great either and I think I was too nice to her when it came to my comments after Black Or White. Boki and Lloyd were sensational.

Mara had, earlier in the day, attended our Heritage Day braai and was in good spirits. Randall was morose. Apparently Liezel has resigned to host a morning television show on SABC 3. It's called Espresso. The name sounds familiar... Anyway, good luck to her.

The theatre was packed again, and I'm getting a good feeling about the level of the talent this season from everyone I've spoken to about the show. Good news backstage too, Randall is satisfied with the Nando's Chicken salad they found for him. Now he can stop being such a diva.

Loyiso was our guest judge and he did a great job. He's such a damn likeable human being. I've never met a single person who has a nasty thing to say about him. That is a rare compliment to any man's character. I'm looking forward to seeing him perform in the results show.

Do you think the Idols are looking better this year? I think their styling has improved quite a lot. Only once or twice have I looked at them and thought they looked below average. It helps having girls like Sindi and Adeline there to make it sexy and funky; and the guys are men, not boys - so they don't look wimpy and androgynous.

Hope the results are good...
