Men are just like kids!

There I was idly reading through our international scans that are sent from London and spotted an article on things that vex mothers.

Not being a parent I thought I would have a giggle at every other mother’s expense and quietly, yet again, pat myself on the back for not procreating. But the more I read the more my mouth hung open.

They surely weren’t talking about children – this is my husband they’re writing about! I’ve listed just a few of the vexing things below but read them and tell me if you agree with me.
•    Dirty clothes dumped beside the washing basket, wet towels on the bathroom floor and toothpaste in the basin
•    Overflowing bins, drips on the toilet seat
•    Empty toilet roll holders, leaving the loo seat up and finding empty cartons in the fridge.
•    Crumbs in the butter and shoes left lying all over the house
•    Lights left on in empty rooms

I could go on but I’m sure you all recognise the above. So instead of being smug I now have sympathy for mothers – I get irked just putting up with one grown-up person leaving stuff for me to tidy – imagine a household of children doing that as well!!

From the 7th floor:
Esmare, Izelle and Michael have just returned from a two-week trip to Sao Paulo to visit the offices of Abril, the Brazilian publishing company that Naspers bought into a few years back.

It was a work-related trip to get great ideas, share information and bring back fabulous articles that could be used in our titles. But it seems they were just stuck in Havaianas heaven.

I’ve never seen so many delightful flip-flops in every shade and design. But it didn’t stop there – Esmare has no less than 7 new pairs of shoes – almost knocking me off my shoe-fetish perch! And of course this from Zara, that from Zara and blah blah more shopping.

And the Rio Carnival also got slotted in. Yes they’re full of ideas and at least they did buy more copy than shoes (only just I might add) but it sounds more like one big fun ride than a work trip no matter how hard they deny this.

This post is just one of many disgusting insults that are levelled at well over 3 billion human beings on account of their gender, including a sizeable number of single, hard working, dedicated, intelligent, smoothly shaven and clean men.

This is to say nothng of the single fathers who work long hours and come home to be loving parents to their children, and YES … they also clean the house as effectively as their counterparts. Why don't THEY get represented by YOU? Dare I say it's because there are no WOMEN around to notice? Or would I be guilty of the same prejudice that I am challenging in this article?

I am a single 32 year old man, and having been single for 31 of my years, I have grown quite accustomed to looking after and cleaning my own home. I am willing to bet that there are MANY men out there who are in my position and have likewise proven themselves to be just as capable as women are at home and in the kitchen. This makes no mention of the many single fathers who raise their kids on their own. Why do THESE men not get honoured and recognized? Why, because there is no one at home to see it!!!

In just about every piece of media I have come across - printed or digital - I see examples of how men are humiliated, insulted and degraded. In fact, I grew up in a family environment where my mother loathed my father for the same reason. It sickens me to constantly be listening to so much negativity.

Linda, if your article is making reference to your husband, then WHY is your article entitled "MEN are just like kids"? are you referring to a comparatively small group of men, or to well over 3 billion human beings - who all happen to have the male gender?

have often asked my husband what i do that irritates him - and he always says "nothing". now there are a number of reasons for this i imagine. if i irritate him he probably wouldn't notice or listen. or just better to say nothing to keep the peace.

Hahahaha! It took my husband 31 years to figure out the lifecycle of a towel. A dumped wet towel does not magically reappear all dry, fluffy and ironed in the cupboard. Someone has to pick it up, stick it in the washer and dryer, iron it and put it back in the cupboard. Made him do the lifecycle once and he's been reformed ever since. My son is two and I will make his future partner's life easier by kicking him into shape in his early years.

There will always be differences between the sexes that drive each of us crazy and yes i am sure that men can come up with a huge list, but we know this and we love them regardless, but we would still like to moan, it makes us feel better.

What if your husband read this and came up with a few points of his own, hmmm?
