This is one of those wonderful books that makes you feel lucky to be a South African. It showcases our great food and wine and the fabulous scenery of the Cape Winelands as it celebrates a favourite national pastime – lighting up the braai.

The reader is taken on a journey through dozens of top estates with owners and winemakers such as Schalk Burger and Jan Boland Coetzee sharing their secrets for a perfect braai.

Recipes include tea-smoked springbok salad, gemsbok fillet, seafood potjie and vegetables in phyllo pastry, with appropriate wine pairings suggested for each meal.

Written, photographed and compiled by Wines of South Africa (WOSA) this book will be pitted against offerings from Belgium, France and the US in the food and drink category of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
