This beautifully photographed cookbook, which combines two of South Africa’s great passions (rugby and food), has scored a nomination in the Africa category.

Swopping their jerseys for aprons 40 of our past and present rugby greats welcome you into their homes and share their favourite recipes.

For starters there’s Rob Louw’s delicious butternut and sweet potato soup while Kobus Wiese serves up lamb shanks with a grilled vegetable tower and potato batons, finished with a port wine jus for mains.

There are also yummy offerings from John Smit, Victor Matfield, Chester Williams, Bakkies Botha and a host of other Bok legends.

This isn’t just a rugby-themed recipe book – it’s a celebration of South African hospitality and the important role food plays in our sporting heroes’ private lives.

Illustrated with candid pictures of star players relaxing at home with their loved ones it’s a revealing portrait of our boys in green and gold.
