Crazy mom? Check. Bride with too much money and too little taste? Check. Husband-to-be who’d rather fly to a far-off continent than get married? Check.
All these and more are in the latest of the Babylon series.
Although it’s not nearly as scandalous as Edward-Jones’ Hotel Babylon, this book is still a delightful read. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the wedding industry and various stories (all true) are condensed into one week in the life of a fictional wedding planner.
We’re given a peek into the lives of super-rich mothers who boss their daughters around because they’re paying for the weddings; sweet women who become bridezillas as the big day draws near; caterers, flower people and other service providers who rip off their clients and a whole host of crazy situations that will make you giggle.
This is no literary masterpiece but a fun weekend read.
