Honda Civic hatch goes auto

Honda has added an automatic gearbox and made a few styling changes and added new features to its five-door Civic hatchback range.

Exterior changes comprise a revised front grille, redesigned front bumper, and a new light cluster integrated into the rear spoiler. The hatchback sports new 17-inch alloy wheels, shod with 225/45 R17 tyres.

The advent of the upgraded Civic 1.8 i-VTEC five-door hatchback range also marks the availability of a new colour - Premium White Pearl.

The automatic Civic hatch employs the same 1.8-litre four-cylinder powerplant, with Honda's i-VTEC system, as the manual model. The engine delivers 103 kW and a 174-Nm peak torque figure. The fuel-injected engine propels the automatic hatchback from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 205 km/h.
