In a class of its own

Mercedes-Benz C Class cars are selling like hot cakes in South Africa and – especially since its facelift earlier this year – it’s easy to see why.

Even before the changes it was hard not to like the C Class. Now, with a sportier new appearance and improved interior finish it’s become more desirable than ever.

Mercedes has also made sure the rejigged C Class is perfectly positioned to take on the new BMW 3 series. It boasts some 2 000 new or improved components. When you’re behind the steering wheel you could easily imagine you’re in a slightly smaller version of the luxury S Class.

The 2,2-litre turbo-diesel engine is a gem, with more than enough punch while remaining environmentally-friendly.

The C250 CDI also features Mercedes’ seven-stage automatic gearbox that includes Sport, Comfort, and Eco driving modes.

Seven airbags and scores of driver aids provide safety. In fact, the C Class feels more like a new model than a remake.
