Rapper Jub Jub's disgrace

It’s hard to believe the wide-eyed little boy in a cooldrink TV commercial 20 years ago is the same guy who’s now in so much trouble.

Talented, good-looking and ambitious, hip-hop star and Survivor SA contender Jub Jub seemed to have the world at his feet. Now, three months shy of his 30th birthday, his future could not be more uncertain.

He might even spend the rest of his life behind bars if he’s found guilty of murdering four boys who died in an accident described by police as one of the most gruesome they’ve ever seen.

Katleho Nkomo and Phindile Matlebula, both Grade 12 learners at Tetelo Secondary School, witnessed the carnage when two street racers collided and mowed down the schoolboys on the long straight road from Protea Glen to Protea North in Soweto.

The drivers were allegedly Jub Jub and his friend, Themba Tshabalala, who runs a bottle store.

Both were tested for alcohol and only Tshabalala was found to be over the legal limit, reports say. Allegedly traces of drugs were found in both men.

Phindile says she and Katleho were walking down the road when they saw the accident. “It happened very quickly but we know Jub Jub’s car because we see it so often,” she begins. “He was driving his charcoal Mini Cooper very fast in the lane for oncoming traffic and racing this guy in a blue Mini Cooper. He tried to overtake the blue Mini but another car was coming and he crashed into the blue Mini, which went spinning into the bush. We both rushed towards the accident.”

Bodies were lying everywhere, along with scattered schoolbags, shoes and items of clothing.

“Jub Jub got out of his car and stood in the middle of the road,” Katleho says. “You could see he was very shocked. He started to walk towards the bodies but he stopped and just stood there. Luckily the police arrived about five minutes later and called the ambulances.”

Dead at the scene were Andile Mthombeni, a Grade 11 pupil at Altmont Technical High School in Soweto, and Phumelelo Masemola (Grade 10), Prince Mohube (Grade 10) and Mlungisi Cwayi (Grade 12), all learners at Jules High School in the city. Fumani Mushwana (16) and Frank Mlambo (17), who both attend Altmont, were badly injured and are fighting for their lives in hospital.

Meanwhile the tide has turned violently against Jub Jub (29). The mood at the accident scene turned ugly and later enraged crowds hurled stones and threatened the two men when they arrived for their first appearance at Protea Glen magistrate’s court.

They were remanded until 17 March when they’re expected to apply for bail.

But it seems Jub Jub might be safer behind bars, given the swelling tide of anger against him.

*See YOU this week (18 March issue) for interviews with the family and a timeline of Jub Jub’s rise to fame and his fall from grace.

What I would like to know why Jub Jub was put on the cover of You Mag after the bad
he had done.Anyone who deserves a place on the cover should be a great human being,
which he is not,he thinks he is more special than anyone else and has no regard for the
poor. The say stealing is all the same, thats not true,if you need to feed your kids and you
steal food without harming anyone, thats something you can understand, but to steal from
the poor when you are rich, thats just plain evil.

jub jub and his friend must pay for what they did, whether it was intentionally or not.
the fact remains that some people were affected.
they knew that it was not safe to race on that locationn but they continued to do it. make them pay

Yeah! people get this to mind, God takes every sin on the same level, God does not say stealing a sweet is better than murdering. by stealing one sweet you will qualify to hell and murdering will in the same way qualify you to hell, using drugs qualifies you to hell.every sin in God's eyes are equal, wether sinning with your mind or using drugs. yes jub jub might not be saved (by Christ) and he was controled by the devil who is the deceiver. filled jub jub with all lies, satan even deceived the school kids etc to go throw stones and argued on jub jub bail. Guys wether you believe in Jesus or not i want to bring this to your attention that think about your soul where is going to rest if you are jub jub soul, stop commenting on jub jub and the families of the boys if you do not even bow down on your knees and pray to God to make a way, if you do not even fast for the heavy burden on the boys families to be undo. fast for the oppressed to be freed , if you duobt me read the Truth Isaiah 58:6-12. to the family of the boys who was involved in the event, yes you loved them, God loved them too 1 JOHN 3:16. Listen be strong in the Lord , let God counsel you all, let the bible be your comforter Psalm 19:7-10,Psalm 119:50,165, Isaiah 49:13, 2 CORINTHIANS 1:3,4. Forgive and GOD will forgive you: Matthews 6:14,15, Matthew 18:21-35, Mark 11:25,26,Luke 6:37, Luke 17:3,4, Ephesians 4:31,32,Colosians 3:12:13. to jub jub and the friend seek God, HE LOVE you guys, obey God's word. Do not compare yourself with people who do not seek God whole heartly. repent of your sin, ask for forgiveness stand strong in God Psalm 31:23,24, Isaiah 40:29-30, do not fear Psalm23, Psalm 91:1-12, do not get frustrated 37:5-8. to every one repent of your sins Revelation 3:11, Matthew3:2. Lastly JESUS IS LORD CAST YOUR WORRIES ON HIM.

am still in shock to hear wat has happened to jub jub n themba..evn dwn here in
botswana there were waves of shock n disbelief...my heart goes to the families of the
victims..now..we all know that wat they did was a mistake but unfortunately the law has
to take its cause.. its not about jub jub n his friend but its all about the kids huv lost
their lives thru the recklessness of these two young men...unfortunately for people who
believe in the supreme being that God is the onli one who can punish them, well on
on earth the law was designed to be God and govern all that happens in earth..that is y
there is the rule of law n y there is no one above it..yes i still love jub jub n all but let us
focus on the loss that these families are goin thru and show a bit of support!!!!!

If he is denying that he had drugs and alchol in his body then he should have known better to behave like an adult behind the wheel of a car. He should be made an example of.
Those innocent kids died for his couple of minutes of "fun".
May he be dealt with severely.

we all know that speeding cars, drugs and booze have never worked out well together, whether they killled intentionally or not, it still doesn't justify their actions. they were irresponsible and young kids had to pay with their lives for it. As for Jub Jub, young kids looked up to him, he didn't just crash those kids but many dreams of young boys is South Africa "he's supposed to be a role model"

I know we dont have a right to judge only God can do that ,but Jub jub must show a little
bit of remourse( azehlise) humble himself and not acting so almighty here with some suites and fancy haistyle
He must show that he regrets what he did ,especially to those families.

Just heard Jub Jub has been granted R10 000.00 bail im happy for him and Themba. South Africans are so quick to point fingers its just so unbelievable. I dont doubt for a second that what happeed that fatefull day was an accident.

Im hurt that innocent young lives were lost but it was an accident that Im sure they are paying for right now. It cannot be easy for them going to bed at night knowing that their irresponsible behavious killed innocent young boys.

I think they have enough to deal with right now, apart from all this unnessary and childish protests which will not influence the law from taking its course anyway.

i honestly feel that people are overreacting, especially the school children. They must go
go back to school and stop behaving like radicals! Jubjub will get his punishment, Thats
why we have the Law in place. No wonder the passrate is one of the lowest in the world.
l speak as a parent and this could have happened to anyone, Taxi drivers kill people
everyday and we have never seen any demostrations! Wake up South Africa, be civilised
and let the law take its course. why pretend as if Jubjub took an AK47 and shot the childred.
Yes he was reckless, but the fact remains it can happen to anyone. People are quick to
open their mounths and say anything, forgetting that we have a life ahead of us, Kusas nguwe!
May their souls rest in peace, and may Jubjub find it in his heart to live with himself after
    this horrific experience.

I have done many mistakes in my life but they have never turned bad in this manner, so I am asking myself what if my mistakes turned bad. I know that I am not a bad person, I am just a human being. So I cant judge Jub! Jub! for his mistakes. I feel for him as I feel for those families who have lost their loved ones!

4 young kids died becouse of irresponsible adults, i believe they should be punish
accordingly .The said part about this whole thing is too see school kids with so much
violence and anger, this is not the picture we wants to see kids threaning to kill.
Jujub needs to take owership for what his done and yes god is the only one
who knows why those4 boys died its only him who can make the final judgemnt.

We need to understand when accident like this happen,God is revealing something
to us we might not get it now but in time, will understand his reasons. I feel sorry for
all the mothers i am the mother myself i cant even begin to imagine how they feel.

my only wish is jub jub sentence will be based on him as an individual and not as
celebrity becouse that will not be fair

things happen for a reason, we cannot blame jubjub for what happened. What if it was meantyt to happen just lyk that or it was just bad luck. Yes jubjub was wrong to race on that road wiyh his friend but we cannot turn back the clock. If jubjub was wrong, only GOD has the right to punish him. an eye to eye wont help now, plus two wrongs dont make a right........

"People don't judge everyone makes mistakes we keep hearing," "God is the only one who condemns " A lot keep saying. What is the point at the end of the day. REMORSE and ACKNOWLEDGMENT are important in this regard, lives have been taken, JUB JUB and THEMBA owe it to the families of the deceased to show remorse and acknowledge that their actions have ended up in turmoil. My opinion of whether they are wrong or right does not matter because the law takes its course at the end, whether its the law of the court of the law of the UNIVERSE = KARMA. Whether they go to jail or not KARMA, KARMA, KARMA read about it and find out. Good or Bad person no one is immune to the laws of the Universe.

Jub Jub is still young,we understand the incident that happened that fatefull day, however the BIble says Judge not,for it shall be Judged by God himself . I send my condolescences to the families of the teenagers and I hope in their hearts they will not Judge this boys. Then Again yes Jub Jub has a status in our country since he is public figure and he's suppose to carry himself like wise but other than that he is still a human being with a feel of entertaining himself that we not suppose to accuse him for,the problem is when he turned foolish by going to the streets and caused the accident by running over the blue mini which hit those poor souls.I know for a fact wherever he is , he feels guilty and he feels disappointed on himself and what had happened he is regretting every single deed that happened and he is already judging himself cause his gonna live with the guilt for the rest of his life so lets not take a law into our hands and let us let justice prevail but good people stop accusing and stop judjing for we all have sins that we cannot overcome and we are already been forgiven in the cross of calvary.Stop accusations and start looking at yourselves and if it was your child who caused such an accident how you'd u feel?

I feel very sorry for JubJub. He is so young, yet, one little choice he made had such a huge impact on so many lives. And yes, the other accused is just as responsible for this accident, but the fact of the matter is, JubJub is a public figure; and publicity comes with the title.

As a public figure, we expect a certain level of maturity, responsibility and accountability because you may claim, in your material, to have a certain persona. People buy into that. So with every bad move you make, you will be front and centre as well. Because the public feels like they know you. And that you owed it to them to behave sensibly.

You were supposed to be a role model, JubJub. The drugs? The alcohol? This accident was just that, an accident. But it turned into a CRIME the moment you consumed the drugs and alcohol and DECIDED to drag race. So, it almost seems intentional. Because we all know the line: Speed Kills.. and Don't drink and drive.

If JubJub was not a public figure, and this case was just as highly publicised, the public would still be just as outraged and demand justice just the same because this behaviour was just irresponsible and senseless. So even though I feel sorry for him, reality is that he will probably go to jail... for a long time. And to the families, justice will be served.
  37. Bev
    2010/03/17 12:24:48 PM
This is not a case of "Judge Not.....", because then ALL crime should just be forgiven and not dealt with. We live in a violent world. By taking alcohol and drugs, and then getting behind the steering wheel and taking the lives of 4 innocent school children amounts to murder. There is no difference than if they'd taken a gun and shot those poor kids. Justice must be done........

Anyone who thinks that Molemo and his friend deserve leniency and should'nt be judged, must take a look at their son/brother/nephew and imagine how it would feel to have them taken away by some ignorant, irresponsible people who think their above the law.

Honestly, were they so bored with their lives that they decided to take the lives of others...children at that!

If you think people like that deserve leniency, then you can hardly call yourself human.

how many people have died on the road, how many celebrities have been in accidents and have killed people and got away with it.i mean really im not saying what he has done is right,im sure he did not mean to kill those kids(may their souls rest in peace) but it was a accident that happened. he is human and we all make mistakes. we have no right to judge him and say these things about him. he is learning a lesson already being in prison and he most probably regrets every moment of it.he does not have to cry in front of the media or scream just to prove to everybody that he is remorseful and sorry for what he has done.i feel very sorry for him, everybody is focusing on him but not his friend.where is a picture of his friend in the papers, why is it not shown along with his picture when it comes to the accident.everybody is saying jub jub this, jub jub that what about tshabalala.why not scorn him like u r scorning jub jub.i feel sorry for the families that lost their kids and the hurt they r going thru.people before we judge and say things about these sort of things lets look at ourselves and look in the mirror before we judge jub jub for what has happened.
thats my opinion and it stays that.....anybody that disagrees with me can suck it up.i have a right to voice my opinion.

Judge not unless you too are ready to be judged for your errors.
Yes they did a stupid thing by getting behind the wheel whilst under the influence
but that doesnt give any living soul the right to curse and judge. Lets let the Lord
and the Law decide thier fate. As for those who lost thier lives, may thier souls rest
in peace. The bible says, only GOD know when you will come and leave this world.

4 innocent souls are gone, because of two irresponsible, selfish spoilt rich brats, who don’t even care.
I personally think its about time these “Celebrities” be responsible for their actions, they must be prosecuted. They can have as much alcohol and drugs as they like but this mustn’t affect our little brothers and Sisters. What p!sses me off is they don’t even show any remorse.
