Esmare, YOU, issue
Esmare, YOU, issue

It’s good to know there are good people in the world. And it’s worth remembering, especially in South Africa where people focus too easily on negatives. This week we honour a woman who was known to very few until a tragedy took her life.

Sarah Holland is one of those people who in her small, quiet way made South Africa a better place.

Sarah was a kindergarten teacher who felt compelled to use her pension money to establish an orphanage in rural KwaZulu-Natal. It became a refuge for people who felt they had nowhere else to turn to.

Recently she and 10 others were tragically killed in a fire at the orphanage (see ‘Angel’ dies in orphanage fire). Her death doesn’t change the fact that she made a difference - and she won’t be forgotten.

Till next week

You Tell Them Elaine! Well done for standing up; your mother would have been proud of you.
My thoughts and condolenses to you; Andrew and Dianne; I cannot express enough my deepest condolences to you all; the way you lost your mother is nothing but heart wrenching. I would hate to loose my mother in that way. Your Mom was a woman who touched many hearts including mine; the things she taught and the encouragement she gave will always be remembered. She was one of the most strongest woman I knew and was the greatest example of Faith in this world; she had nothing but yet everything she had she always gave out to others. She was a true inspiration to all and one that never thought of herself but of everyone else's right to her end. The times we spent together will always be remembered. May God be with you; Dianne; Andrew as well as with her Brothers and Sister. R

To whoever who wrote that article about Sarah Holland who is my mother needs to get their facts straight before printing the article. I cant believe that no one has relies that Karel de Haas has changed his story so many times. Once he rammed a vehicle into the wall.Where? I didn't see a car or a wall been dented in, now he claims that someone arrive with a tractor and a tank of water and he grabs the hose. I never saw a tractor except for my mothers tractor which was still where my brother Nicholas Pienaar left it. He says he got the smoke under control, come on the forensic informed us the house was 900 degrees inside. He looks through the window from the lounge, the fire started in the lounge so how do you control the smoke where it started? If the little girl was standing by the bathroom window which the window isn't high enough for them to see through, she ran back inside why would she run all the way down the corridor to go outside then back again by then the fire has already reach boiling point. How the hell could Karel climb through the window and survive. My brother Nicky was a strong man he would have done that right from the time it all started. A cupboard my mother never had cupboards in her room I should know I lived there. If this is what you print for a story then I myself and by word of mouth will never believe what you print in this magazine again. As far as we are concern two African gentlemen who I know were the first on the scene and they didn't mention Karel. Why don't you interview them rather as they tried to help. I'm sorry but this Karel has changed his story so many times and has he ever explain or come to one of our family members to tell us what happen. I am so sick of lies. I knew each part of that house, the children and my family members and nothing what Karel has said makes sense.Elaine
