So this week I step into Esmaré’s rather large shoes while she’s away for three months.
Although I’ve been at YOU on and off since its inception, making those final decisions that could make or break our sales has fortunately never been my responsibility. But now it is and with the support of a fantastic team with whom I’ve worked closely for years I’m confident that your favourite magazine is in good hands.
It was with great sadness that we heard that little Lian Marais had died after a heart attack (YOU, 1 April). His untimely death again highlights South Africa’s desperate need for organ donors – there are still 50 people waiting for heart transplants. Our sympathies are with Liam’s parents.
Don’t miss next week’s issue of YOU – we’re giving away a free DVD with highlights of the World Cup tournament held in Germany in 2006.
Use this fabulous free gift to kickstart a DVD collection consisting of 15 full-length discs crammed with official footage from all the World Cups since 1930. They’ll be on sale soon – see page 26 for details.
To read more newsy snippets from our floor and about our deadline woes or wins see my blog at www.you.co.za.
Of course you might possibly read more interesting things on Esmaré’s blog which she’ll post on our website from time to time.
Who wouldn’t want to read about swimming in the sea off Mauritius or shopping in the fantastic Istanbul bazaar!
Till next week,
Linda
