Scandal: Zuma's 20th child

The news spread around the world like wildfire: the South African president had recently fathered his 20th child.

It made the front pages of newspapers from London to Lusaka and triggered an international outpouring of dismay and disbelief. And here in SA it’s all anyone can talk about.

The revelation has dominated radio stations’ news bulletins, spurred several editors to condemn President Jacob Zuma’s behaviour, triggered a number of hard-hitting cartoons and given rise to endless debate.

The ANC declined to comment at length, saying only the 67-year-old leader’s private life is his business and has nothing to do with his running of the country.

But others disagree. Opposition leaders have labelled Zuma promiscuous and irresponsible, a sex addict who needs to go into rehab like golfer Tiger Woods and a gigolo who should stop running after women and start concentrating on being a leader. And the fact the president had unprotected sex with a woman who wasn’t one of his wives fuelled the controversy.

Several days after the revelation Zuma finally acknowledged he’d fathered the child. This despite the fact the mother, Sonono Khoza – 39-year-old daughter of Zuma’s long-time friend, soccer supremo Irvin ‘‘Iron Duke’’ Khoza – bizarrely feigning ignorance of having the president’s baby.

Please use a condom or get the snip. You can't possibly spend enough quality time with your wives and children AND still have time to run the country!

Frankly, im getting a little tired of hearing about Mr Zuma's sexual escapades, he's obviously not one to look to for relationship advice and i hope we're all mature enough not to 'look-up-to-him' in that regard i.e. dont blame your infidelity on his example... What i would be interested in however is his competence as a president. Is he fulfilling he's duties(... as a political leader) or is he as fickle in parliament as he is in...you know. We've already deciphered that he's a lousy example in the "why we love men" category, but is he good enough to be mentioned when we discuss "why we love south africa"?

I am a taxpayer and, therefore, effectively this man's employer. I demand that he be given a clock card so that I know when he is actually doing the job he is being paid to do.
I don't know how he can have three wives and treat them all the same and still find time for affairs and run the country!
I still think the funniest and most appropriate nickname I have seen used for him is "Turbo-dick".

Zuma is an utter embarrassment to South Africa and to the civilised world.
Living proof that although he is out of the bush, the bush is still inside him.

I dont approve of what JZ did but I'm a little bit disturbed by the way YOU sansationalised the story. I could sense that either the writer of the article or YOU never actually liked Zuma.

I believe that when we as South africans decided to give him the presidential position, he and every understood that when you in a leading role is your life is no longer it's for others. Meaning you reposition yourself, your actions to give positive influence that you preach and give to poeple to they would do the same and ofcause recieve the respect that you deserve.

Which then raises questions such as is it worth it to give the future of our country to such leadership?....

Just shows you, a baboon will multiply, but he stays a criminal and rapist, that used the system to get loose from all criminal activities... reminds me alot of Mugabe.... birds of a same feather, meaning that the country is down spiraling... he is still riding the gravy train... And the world knows and is seeing it all... why is there no more investments into SA... ? Because of the country crime and corruption... Thank god I am gone.. did not want to go through the hell hole...

Ofcourse we will Zuma alone if he step down which is highly unlikely.A president of a country must lead by example. He made a moving speech on Aids day while he does the opposite. As a christian the bible says i should respect my leaders but Zuma is giving me little to work on really.I never like the idea of having a supected corrupt president, but i decided to accept him as my president but this is too much.He does not have morals non at all

Leave him to it... He'll go the same way the rest of the promiscuous people in this country have - AIDS doesnt care who you are - it wont matter that you're the president - Sorry for you...

People always have something to say, because he is a public figure, its also very easy for peoplke to talk about him because he is suppose to be a role model figure to us youth, he is a president and he is a human being! The only problem with this is that he is a President, How many south African Man are having affairs and children everywhere?

    Leave Zuma alone

He should start acting as a president and address the real issues on this country. The time Zuma spends to defend his personal life, could have been put to better use to solve problems South Africans face.
