One sometimes wonders if it’s possible for the romantic comedy genre to still come up with fresh ideas. How often can a guy and a girl feel a spark, get together and break up, only to eventually find each other?

The answer: that’s not the point. Romcoms are there to help us believe the lies told by Hallmark cards and superficial romantic novels.

And in this respect this flick does an excellent job. Justin Timberlake is new in New York, Mila Kunis is showing him around, they just want to be friends with benefits but things get complicated.

It’s the perfect recipe but while many romcoms fall flat because of a weak script or average acting this one kicks butt. Timberlake and Kunis have a fresh approach to their characters, and this comedy achieves something few do: it actually manages to be funny.

Will they end up together? You know the answer.
