WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
As a young man famed English poet John Keats fell in love with the beautiful Fanny Brawne. Their romance blossomed - but then he died unexpectedly at 25.

WHO WILL ENJOY IT?
Don’t turn up your nose thinking this is aimed only at arthouse fans. If you’re in the mood for a film with more to offer than sexy bods and funny one-liners this long-awaited story about a doomed love will bowl you over. Anyone who takes films seriously will be moved by director Jane Campion’s attention to period detail, her skilled recreation of one of history’s greatest romances and respect for the power of love and poetry. It all makes for a brilliant, gripping movie experience. An inspiring film that will make you see love in a new light.

WAIT FOR DVD?
Because this drama is being released to coincide with the romantic fever that precedes Valentine’s Day you should take your sweetheart and see it on the big screen. But if you don’t get around to it it will definitely be worth hiring the DVD or even buying it. It’s visually breathtaking and Abby Cornish and Ben Whishaw (Perfume) expertly bring the doomed couple to life. A moving experience and a welcome alternative to candyfloss entertainment.
