With Valentine’s day around the corner, here are some pretty decorations you can make yourself to adorn the dinner table.
1. Paper pompoms
• 3 sheets of tissue paper in the same colour
Stack the three sheets of tissue paper and cut strips about 15 cm wide along the length of the paper. Make accordian folds along the length of the paper, about 1,5 cm apart.
Tie string around the middle of the folded paper and use the scissors to shape the ends of the paper into sharp points.
Fan the paper out.
Separate the tissue paper to create a pompom
flower. Push a stick into the pompom.
2. Heart garland
• Heart-shape punch
• Embroidery needle
• Single-hole punch
• Scrapbook paper
Use the shape punch to cut heart shapes from the scrapbook paper.
Punch two holes in each heart and thread the string through the holes to form the garland.
3. Wooden Candlestick
• Drill with 20 mm bit
• B Sandpaper
• Offcut timber about
• 300 x 500 x 30 mm
• Leftover primer
• Leftover water-based enamel
• 3 x 30 mm cut screws (20)
Download the candlestick design here and print it at 100%. Cut it out with scissors and trace the design on to the timber.
Use the clamps to secure the timber to a work surface and cut out the design with the jigsaw.
Slide the cross foot section into the base of the candlestick.
Screw in place.
Mark the centre on each of the arms at the top of the candlestick and use the 20 mm drill bit to drill holes about 15 mm deep.
Prime the candlestick and let it dry. Apply two coats of enamel, letting the paint dry between coats.
