Who knew a walk to your nearest grocery store could help you lose over 100 kg?

Well, that is how Pasquale ‘Pat’ Brocco from Arizona in the US started off his weight-loss journey, which has since left him in the shape of his life.

The 31-year-old told ABC News that he had his epiphany when he went to the doctor for his high cholesterol and expected to weight at 450 lbs (200 kg) — but was shocked when he looked down at the scale and saw a whopping 605 lbs (274 kg).

DAY 1 VS Day 1275!!! No it won’t happen over night it’s a process that you have to love and trust! A few thing I learn over the last 3 1/2 years!! 1st thing is that it’s very possible trust me when I say if I can do it so can you! it’s You vs You I mean your the only one that can stop you from reaching your goals and your the only one that can actually reach your goals right!!! You chose what to eat and what not to eat, you chose to work out or not to, you chose to make your dreams reality or just leave them as dreams! You have to believe in yourself and wake up every morning with the positive attitude that you got this! You get back what you put in the universe! It’s never as hard as we make it and to truly succeed in life you must have control of your mind! With that hard work and consistency you can accomplish anything! Just know we can’t be content but we need to be consistent, work harder then you did the day before, always challenge yourself always make forward progress be happy with your result but never be happy with staying there always want more always make forward progress as human we are destined to grow!! Don’t just apply this to weight loss or fitness apply it to life!!! #anythingspossible #teambodybuildingcom #youvsyou #youvsyouchallenge #bodybuildingcom

That same day, Pat went home and took a picture of himself in the mirror.

“My stomach was down to my thighs. My chest was hanging down here,” he said. “I was disgusted.”

Realising that he was morbidly obese, Pat decided to change his life. Step one was controlling his eating — by walking to his nearest grocery store every time he thought food.

The nearest grocery store to him was Walmart, which was about 90 minutes away.

“You walk to Walmart three times a day, and you end up walking 6 miles [almost 10 km],” he said. “It’s amazing because I never walked 6 miles in my life, and I was doing it every day.”

Pat, who was once known as “Fat Pat”, began dedicating himself to a healthy diet and tracked all the food that he ate. He began cutting out things like dairy — and the number on the scale started dropping.

Once he was able to fit onto gym machines, he got onto a routine which would make him the ripped muscle man he is today.

After hearing his story, Walmart rewarded Pat with $25 000 (R 319 000) which Pat — who has renamed himself to “Possible Pat” — used to open his own gym to help other people who need to lose weight.

He wrote on his Instagram, “It’s not just wanting to change, we have to believe we can change. If anyone is going to believe in you, start with yourself. There are no limitations, we only set them in our minds. We can become who, and what, we want!”
