She was left utterly devastated after her husband René Angélil’s death last year from cancer, but Celine Dion is drawing comfort from their six-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson Angélil.
The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker recently revealed she sleeps with the youngsters every night.
“I organize myself to not feel lonely,” the 49-year-old told the UK’s The Sun recently. “So I got myself a huge, huge, huge bed and I sleep with my twins. They are comforting me a lot. I need them. I need them close.”
“When it’s time for them to say they want their room, their room’s ready. But we watch a lot of TV together. I’m discovering Disney,” the songbird, who also has an older son, René-Charles (16) with Rene, added.
She posted this photo of the boys and herself at Christmas.
Rene, Celine’s husband of 22 years and manager for over three decades and the “only man she’s ever kissed”, died in January 2016 after a long battle with throat cancer. She says the boys have been managing remarkably well since then.
“They’re really well because I’m strong. I’m sounding pretentious but if I don’t show them the way, they will question it. ‘Papa is not coming back but Papa is in your heart.’ ”
She also revealed that they have a little ritual they do every night where they talk to their “papa”. “We kiss him every night. We have a little ritual where we say goodnight to him with a little picture. Then the kids talk to him. And they write words, put them in balloons and we send the balloons to the sky.”
Speaking of her beloved husband’s death at the Grammys in February, Celine revealed that there are “days when I feel that it’s been three years, and there’s days that I feel it’s not happening. He’s always with me, and I know that he’s very proud that we’re back in the industry,” she said referring to her return to her Las Vegas residency.”
“It’s hard for me not to sing.”
Earlier this year the pop star revealed that she doubts she will find a man again. “He’s the love of my life. It’s very difficult for me to see myself with another person.”
“The love that I have for him, I live it every day. And as a woman, we do have emotions and feelings that come and go. And it’s always with him. When I sing, it’s with him. When I hug my kids, it’s for him and it’s with him. I took time to grieve and I’m still grieving”
