“Miss, thank you very much for what you have done for us. You always made the funniest faces and helped us play with our clay.”

This is one of many messages by young learners from Wierdapark Primary School after a student teacher, Danielle van As, died in a car crash on Tuesday.

Danielle was on her way to school when she lost control of her car on the N14 just before the Snake Valley exit. She was talking to her boyfriend Francois Herman on her hands-free phone when he heard a blow, Maroela Media reports.

She was a student teacher at the school for two years.

“A student teacher does what teachers do while studying,” said school spokesperson, who wants to remain anonymous.

Last year Danielle taught the grade ones, moving to the grade two class this year.

Another letter reads: “Teacher Danielle, we miss you a lot, you mean a lot to us, your smile is the most beautiful. I like it as a teacher helping us with Afrikaans and Mathematics. You are the cutest teacher. ”

The spokesman described Danielle as a small, pretty girl, who was always friendly.

In a tribute to Danielle, she is described as “a whirlwind that blew in our lives and spread her love in the corridors of our souls.”

“With your tight hugs and ‘bokkie’ eyes, you showered Franna [her boyfriend] with love! Our Google girl, our MasterChef, our ‘Hartblom’ child. Someone as unique as you will never find us again. We take comfort in the belief that you are the most beautiful star, smiling from above. “
